Acompanyin note states that this was carried on Cunard's "Cambria" on its final voyage, and that this is the earliest known usage of the Boston 30cts marking. Provenance: ex. Connor, Booth, Taylor.

Cover with contents from Mazatlan, Mexico to Herrnhut, Sachsen / Saxony, (still its own kingdom in Germany), sent by ship and forwarded by two agents in New York, USA: Gilpin's Exchange Reading Room as well as Meyer and Hudson. A bit worn, folded; good condition, as per scans. With Outre Mer Havre way mark as well. Took from November to March to get as far as France -- the internet it wasn't.

Vorphila / pre-philatelic stampless folded cover with contents sent from Cartagena, Colombia to New York via forwarding agent C.J. Fox, Aspinwall NG - Aspinwall was the English-speaking name for Cartagena early in the American contact with the city. A bit worn, and folded, as per scans.

Original autograph letter (ALS) from Charles Theodore of Bavaria, Count Palatine, as Duke of Juelich and Berg, and as Prince-Elector, Duke of Bavaria from 1777 until his death in 1799. Charles was a member of the House of Palatinate-Sulzbach, a branch of the House of Wittelsbach. Signed simply as Charles Theodore. An interesting tidbit from Wikipedia: Karlsplatz in Munich is named after Charels Theodore, and it was during his reign that the English Garden was established in Munich.

Original autograph letter (ALS) from Maximilian Joseph, prince-elector of Bavaria (as Maximilian IV Joseph) 1799 to 1806 and then 1st King of Bavaria (after Napoleon and then Metternich with the Council of Vienna shuffled things up a bit)as Maximilian I Joseph from 1806 to 1825. A fantastic companion piece for the Bavarian philatelist, or for the collector of the House of Wittelsbach. Their palace can still be toured in the heart of Munich, and is certainly worth a visit. Then stop by the Franziskaner across the square afterwords for Kartoffelsuppe and fresh Hefeweizen. Slightly worn, folded -- in excellent condition, not even considering its age. Datelined Mannheim (he was Duke Palatine also) and signed as Max CP dddP (as Duke de Deux Pont) another of his hereditary titles, before he assumed Electorship or the Kingdom.
