Czech Legion in Russia WWI Christmas Patriotic Card
Patriotic postcard produced *by* and for the Czech Legion in Russia during and shortly after WWI. Excellent unused condition, as per scans. The Legion had great success fighting for the Russians at Zborov, but after the Tsar was deposed and the Communists took over they were to be disarmed, a fate to which they took exception. So, like any of us would do, they decided to take over the Trans-Siberian railway and carved their own rolling iron empire out of the former Russia crown's east. The Allies weakly supported them (mostly with words) in fighting the Communists, but ultimately their revolution sputtered to a halt and they evacuated out of (mostly) Valdivostok. Amazing that in the midst of their fighting they had time to actually produce postcards -- I guess there was some significant downtime while rolling across Siberia.
