Large size (ca 9.5x12.5) souvenir sheet circa 1924 showing the outrageous rate of inflation up to November 1923. Such pieces were used to stoke the outrage the Germans felt for the terms of the Versailles Treaty which, (along with WWI, of course) bankrupted the country. In top condition. Real Photo RPPC of the Pnte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs) in Venice, sailed with the Kraft durch Freude (KdF) / Strength through Joy ship MS Wilhelm Gustloff, used on board in 1938 with Deutsche Schiffspost cancel. On 30 January 1945 the Wilhelm Gustloff, which was pressed into service as a serving as a refugee ship of last resort in Danzig, was sunk by the soviet sub S-13. With 9,500 on board, it is still the largest maritime disaster in history, dwarfing the Titanic.

With contents. The Biber (German for 'beaver') were tiny, single occupant subs that could be equipped with two torpedoes, on either side of the hull. Only 324 of these subs were delivered, and if they actually were able to start on their mission, most didn't return. I believe only one ship was sunk by the entire 'fleet'. A very rare cover, especially with contents, from a German 'Kleinverband' boat.

Molch Flottille, Kampflot 415 / midget submarine with the Molch 415th Battle Fleet in Stavanger, Norway. With contents. The Molch (German for 'salamander' or 'newt') were tiny, single occupant subs (basically large torpedoes) that could be equipped with two actual torpedoes, on either side of the hull. Only 363 (or 393, sources vary) of these subs were delivered, and if they actually were able to start on their mission, most didn't return. An illustration of the sub is attached at front left. A very rare cover from a German 'Kleinverband' boat.

Marder Flottille, Kampflot 365 / midget submarine (actually a torpedo modified to hold a human) with the Marder 365th Battle Fleet in Skagen, Norway. With contents. The Marder (German for 'martin') were tiny, single occupant 'subs' (converted torpedoes) that could be equipped with a live torpedo slung underneath. If they actually were able to start on their mission, only a handful managed to return. An illustration of the sub is attached at front left.
