Happy Spring! This last trip had an an abundance of good material, the best since before Covid -- which is great, since I've canceled my May-June trip to a dearth of interesting lots (which has been the theme since 2019). And since most of the boxes have arrived from Europe, this should be a good summer and fall for sales! Including:
Colonies stamps and covers from several specialized collections.
WWII -- postal history and cards. I almost always have new, rare items, and this week is no exception. Over the next few sales I'll be offering pieces which I've never owned before, and many others I've only sold once or twice in the past.
Around 1000 Zeppelins from the Sieger(!) estate, with dozens of BPP certificates for treaty flights such as Russia on multiple SAF legs. I've put up the first group with many more to come over the next few months.
And what else? Empire with WWI, Freikorps, some post-WWII and various ephemera. A big offering!
It's springtime and beautiful in the Rockies. Waiting to receive a massive lot of Zeppelins from the Sieger(!) estate. But lots of other stuff has arrived, so this week, I have:
Colonies. Lots more Colonies, with South Seas, including attractive set covers, DSWA, and lots of picture postcards.
WWII -- postal history and cards. With several rare pieces.
A group of Zeppelins featuring many of the overprint issues with singles and multiples, as well as interesting treaties.
And what else? Czech Legion in WWI Russia and in WWII, Freikorps, WWI Empire, se-tenants, pioneer flight RPPCs, etc.
I had a very successful trip in February and the first boxes have arrived. So this week, I have:
WWII -- postal history and cards. With many difficult-to-find pieces.
Colonies. Lots of Colonies, especially DSWA.
WWI and other empire...
And what else? Zeppelin covers with some rare combinations. Some Austria, Freikorps and Weimar postal history.
I've returned from my latest trip to Europe and for the first time since before Covid I found a whole bunch of material to buy. Yay! Some is already on its way. This week we have more:
WWII -- postal history and cards including seldom-seen pieces.
Zeppelins, especially early Bordpost.
German Colonies
And what else? Empire and Weimar, a little Austria, WWI including airplane PCs, a little Zusammendruck, etc.
Back in Germany, finally. Here's our newest sale:
WWII -- postal history and cards with more rare pieces.
German Colonies
And what else? Empire and Weimar...
We're all better now and have posted a new sale:
WWII -- postal history and cards with several rare pieces.
Weimar and other German stamps, featuring Zusammendruck / pairs, panes, and booklets.
German Colonies
And what else? WWI-era items...
It finally happened. My wife and I joined the Covid club -- me, 3 days before leaving for Germany -- so I missed my last trip of the year.
Looking forward to my first trip of the year, but I might not go until March or April.
I did reach out to some contacts. plus still have new material from my last trip:
WWII -- postal history and cards with several rare pieces.
German Colonies with some hi-value items
And what else? WWI-era items, lots of etc.
Happy Thanksgiving! Just got the final results from my last trip, so it looks like I'll be going again next month. It'll be nice to see the Christmas markets on the evenings / weekends, and I have a new, full slate of auctions and shops to attend. Always looking!
This might be our last sale of 2023, not sure yet. December is shaping up to be crazy busy, not even including some especially involved family stuff.
I do have new material from my penultimate trip:
WWII -- history and cards with several more rare pieces as well as some not-so-expensive but unusual items. Plus, more of the WWII Feldpost I'd sold years ago and bought back again.
German colonies stamps and covers, especially nice DOA along with other areas.
And what else? WWI-era items, and a quite a bit o' etc.
Back from Germany. Auctions were very slim pickin's, again. Mediocre material at decidedly non-mediocre prices. I actually bought covers a lot cheaper at my friend's and some dealers than I saw them go for at auction.
Ulm was lovely, and I had great weather elsewhere before the rain set in. Found a couple nice new hotels, so it was all good.
But I have to go back next month since I didn't get enough.
Luckily, I still did manage to pick up some really exceptional items:
WWII -- history and cards with more rare pieces. Plus, I ended up buying back a bunch of WWII Feldpost I'd sold years ago. Go figure!
German colonies stamps and covers, especially nice DOA covers and some good DSWA as well, along with China.
And what else? WWI-era items, a few Wurstel/Sausage cancels along with various 2nd Empire and Infla covers, a little postwar, some nice Freikorps. etc.
Just went to the first day of the show in Ulm; it was nice. I realize shows aren't much for me anymore because I can't buy as much as a day at an auction (usually) but they're great for supplies and getting the new catalogs.
And I must say Ulm beats Sindelfingen (where the show had been for decades, pre-Covid) to hang out in, and the venue (except for standing in the rain to get tickets) is much better than Sindelfingen, which had crap parking and public transport access. Also, as a medieval town with an honest-to-God Gothic cathedral, the city itself is a lot prettier, IMO.
Anyway this week:
WWII -- history and cards with some rare pieces.
German colonies stamps and covers.
A single lot containing the non-Zeppelin-flown postcards and letters from the Beuerle estate -- rare photos and postcards from the Zeppelin engineer on his flights -- a picture of him and his wife, shots of him and the crew in the gondola or working on pioneer airships, and postcards (mostly with written contents) from his layovers on the various Zeppelin flights from his WWI service (several different airfields) throughout Germany, and then up to the Graf flight to the USA. An impossible to duplicate grouping.
And what else? WWI, postwar locals covers, the key 1934 Liechtenstein Souvenir Sheet MNH with cert, etc.
