Original Peking picture postcard from Deutsche Auslandspostaemter China / German Offices. Used with Peking CDS during the Boxer Rebellion. Scarce usage to FIUME, Hungary during the Chinese war. Sent by Austrian Marines (the correspondence we have with these fellows is from the SMS Sankt Elisabeth, the SMS Leopard, and the SMS Maria Theresia) to their buddy back at the Military Academy in Fiume. With scarce, so-called 'Petschili' franking -- a German Empire Germania stamp without the China overprint, used due to lack of the overprinted versions during the war.
